“Choose to View the World through Grateful Eyes. It Will Never Look The Same Again.” – Isis Khan

Oy vey. What a week. Anybody have an extra torso for sale? Mine is defective. I’m sending it back and I want a full refund. I’ll take the cyst-free, scar-free one with the washboard abs. It’s Mother’s Day right? How can anyone deny me this?

Allow me to take a breather from the poor-me’s and actually tell you how lucky I feel to have been through this ordeal as SO many positive things happened as a result:

1.) my husband made me blueberry spinach smoothies in bed each morning
2.) friends I haven’t spoken with in months reached out and we had long, unrushed conversations about everything worth catching up on
3.) my mom dropped everything and got on a plane to help with the kids through the recovery (sitter is out of town and Brian leaves for South Africa this evening!)
4.) kids were on their best behavior and cuddled with me for an hour without fighting when I returned home!
5.) you all stopped your busy lives to send me your best wishes, your own similar experiences, tips for recovery, babysitter contact details, offers to help with kids, etc.!
6.) Emily Reynolds for bringing a delicious meal (vegetable pasta primavera and apple crisp anyone??)
7.) Heather Friedman for loading my fridge with healthy Whole Foods goodies and gifts for birthday girl Cece!
8.) Annie Cooper for her offer to move in with me for the week!
9.) Full understanding from everyone about classes being canceled
10.) sleeping whenever the hell I want (this has been my fantasy for 3 years straight now)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I hope you are all feeling the love too on this GORGEOUS Mother’s Day!

Birthday Girl

Three years ago today, after a grueling 28 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, then emergency c-section I met the sweetest little face I had ever laid eyes on. Today, that same face racked up an estimated 25 time-outs. Sassed me out for not serving her water with lemon. Picked out her own (matching!) outfit. Wiped her own bum. She even told me my teeth were “Barry White.”

Holy time-warp. 3 years feels like 3 days. Happy birthday Cece!

I hope you all enjoyed this lovely weekend with your perfect angels too 😉

Here’s what’s in store for the week. Put on your trainers and come. You never regret a workout!

Monday: circuit training! 1 minute per station. Don’t miss this fantastic total body workout ending with an intense abs and back session!

Tuesday: Life’s a Bench! Come challenge yourself today! You’ll work muscles you never knew existed.

Thursday: isometrics and plyometrics! Think: full range of motion (plyos) and zero range of motion (Isos). Both challenging and toning your body in the most efficient ways possible. Don’t miss out!

Have a lovely evening and see you in the a.m.!

Kerri

Off Piste

I once dragged Brian to a Saturday morning bootcamp with 11 female participants. I could actually feel his embarrassment as we showed up to a sea of ponytails and neon pink Sweaty Betty tops with nary a dude in sight. We hadn’t warmed up more than 5 minutes before he took the first opportunity to bail and how could I blame him? This wasn’t exactly ages ago. So when Brian signed me up for the super duper expert advanced ski lesson on our first day skiing at Valmorel, and we showed up to a sea of Go Pro cameras and neon ski “onesies,” I felt just as compelled to head for the hills (groomed hills that is). Which I did after just three grueling Off Piste runs and an hour-long avalanche safety seminar spoken entirely in French. So for the very first time in my entire life, I found myself skiing alone. I loved every second. No one to speed up for, no one to slow down and wait for. I generally love chatting away a ski day with a few friends but this week was different. In this day and age, most of us are programmed to push our limits every second of every day. Well, here’s the thing. I’m not Jenny Jones. I go on holiday only a few times a year and with 2 little ones afoot, doing absolutely nothing is a luxury I don’t afford myself frequently. I gave myself permission to chill out, stop for a coffee, go down the same favorite trail 4x in a row, and find inner peace (in the form of a power nap or two!). The scenery was gorgeous, the kids club staff fantastic, the food fresh and simple. I feel more rested and relaxed than I have in ages. With all that said, there’s still no place like home, and I am becoming more and more excited for the spring season upon us! We have so much to look forward to. Here is what to expect for the week ahead:

Monday: Feelin’ lucky? Join us for the Saint Patty’s Day Slimdown! I can guarantee lots of cheesy workout themes and terrible Leprechaun jokes. Wear your green, remember everyone is Irish today. Not to be missed.

Tabata Tuesday! High intensity drills followed by periods of rest to maximize fat burning and muscle building potential.

Thursday: Bikini Yoga! That’s right. Warmer weather will be here in no time. The sweaters and heavy coats will be stashed away for good. With yoga poses like The Goddess and Crescent Moon, you’ll be proudly fishing that bikini out in no time. Come learn the best moves to tighten up your core and leave you longer and leaner for the sunny days ahead.

A quick shoutout to Nicola Cranley on the birth of little Anastasia Olive! Congratulations Nicola. Photos please! We can’t wait to meet her!

All you vegan, paleo, sugar-free, gluten-free or just plain health junkies out there will love my new chocolatey protein packed workout snack! Kid approved of course. Here’s the easy recipe:

2 parts cocoa berry ground flax seed
3 parts almond butter
2 parts hemp powder
2 scoops Chocolate Greens Plus Superfood Powder
2 parts honey
1 part water
*optional chocolate chips! Turn it into dessert!*

Bon Appetit!

Diamonds Are A Girl’s Bestie

Hello all,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was slightly less lovely than usual seeing that I had to give up tickets to Beyoncé with girlfriends to stay home and recover myself and my daughter from a vicious 24 hour bug. It probably worked out for all the other audience members seeing as I would have had a difficult time resisting the urge to sport a black leotard and stilettos and mimic her every dance move when All The Single Ladies came on. I’m only half kidding. We made up for it the next day by getting some fresh air at the football pitch, then regaining our mojo with a delish bright red smoothie:

1/2 a beet, cubed
2 cups orange carrot juice
1 cup water
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen spinach
1/4 cup frozen broccoli
Juice of half a lemon

Can’t taste the spinach/broccoli! It’s more appetizing than it sounds and ridiculously good for you.

Who is hanging in there with our abs challenge? Today was Day 6! If you’d like to jump on the bandwagon it’s not too late to do so! Just drop me a line and I’ll add you to our group list. Here are the deets. No excuses:

Our plan for the week:

Diamonds: They’re a girl’s best friend right? You have to be at least a little intrigued. See you there tomorrow!

Tuesday: the paper towel workout! Sorry Treadmill, one of the most effective pieces of workout equipment is right in your kitchen and costs less than 50 pence. Get ready to sweat hard indoors at our second to last class at Saint Dionis Church in PG 😉

Thursday: yogalates for pre and postnatal mums. You’ll get your cardio in there too, promise. See you then!

One last quick note: the hubs, kids, and I are hitting the slopes in France next week! If you are on a 3 month package, it will be extended by one week. More on that later.

Cheers,
Kerri
